Lukas

We would like to share a special story of Alix Mcgunness. She writes about her XRACE yesterday in Leeds, racing alongside her 6-year-old son, Lukas.

"To say I am proud of Lukas is an understatement. I am bursting with pride, today my boy and Maisie completed the XRACE and he has the medal to prove it. Not only that, he and Maisie have raised funds to help Pendle Dogs in need. Thank you to everyone that sponsored him."

She continues.

"When we found out that Lukas had cerebral palsy, we had no idea what to expect other then that it affects his entire body and he will need a wheelchair and ongoing treatment for the rest of his life."

"I made a promise to Lukas that I would never ever let him miss out on anything he wanted to do."

At the weekend just gone, in Leeds (UK) alongside her sidekick, Lukas' grandmother, these two super women showed just how strong a mothers (and grandmothers) love really is.

"Grandma and I pushed Lukas around as fast as we could and his determination was inspirational. He really shows you that anything is possible if you believe in yourself. I am incredibly lucky to be able to share my life with such an amazing young man. Now, pass me the wine I am knackered."

Alex, there is a very large XRACE family out there reading this message right right now, other XRACE families from the Netherlands, The Aussies, the Brits and the Kiwis. On behalf of all these families we say Lukas isn't the only inspiration in this story - so too are Super Mum Alix and Super Nan.

Go grab that bottle of vino, you are also our heros.
